Jeff Miner has served as Senior Pastor of LifeJourney Metropolitan Community Church, Indianapolis, since 1997. He was a member of MCC’s Board of Administration from 2003 to 2010, serving as Chair for his last four years. He has twice received MCC’s Phoenix Award for Leadership in Church Renewal, and in 2010 received MCC’s Award for Excellence in Ministry.
LifeJourney MCC is a congregation of about 400 in Sunday worship attendance, with outreach ministries that include LifeJourney Press (which publishes resources for LGBTQ Christians) and LifeJourney Pastoral Training (an official pilot program of MCC that offers intensive apprenticeships for clergy trainees who want to minister in a “progressive evangelical” style).
Jeff is co-author of a leading book on homosexuality and the Bible, The Children Are Free: Re-examining the Biblical Evidence on Same-sex Relationships, and is principal author of a discipleship program for Emerging Churches called Following Jesus: Discipleship 101 and Thriving in Christian Community: Discipleship 102.
Jeff graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Bob Jones University in 1980 summa cum laude, and a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School in 1983 cum laude. In 1996, Jeff completed the Samaritan Clergy Training Program, which was once a primary means for training MCC clergy.
Prior to becoming a pastor, Jeff was a corporate and banking attorney in Washington DC for 13 years, last serving as Deputy Chief Counsel for Legislative Affairs in a federal banking agency. Jeff lives with his spouse, Rev. David Zier. They were married on September 8, 1991.
